    EV Charger Installation

Charge at home, on your terms. A Level 2 home EV charger is one of the most practical upgrades a Houston homeowner can make right now. Forget public charging queues. Plug in when you get home, wake up with a full battery.

Charge at Home, on Your Terms

Whether you drive a Tesla, a Rivian, a Chevy Blazer EV, or anything else, LCF Electrical installs the right charger for your vehicle, your garage, and your panel.

We handle everything — permit, installation, and inspection — across The Woodlands, Conroe, Spring, Tomball, Magnolia, Houston, Katy, Cypress, Humble, and surrounding areas.

Level 1 vs Level 2: What You Actually Need

    Level 1 (standard outlet, 120V)

Adds roughly 4-5 miles of range per hour. Fine for plug-in hybrids. Not practical for a full EV as a daily driver.

    Level 2 (240V dedicated circuit)

Adds 20-30+ miles of range per hour depending on your vehicle's onboard charger. This is what most EV owners need, and what LCF installs.

Level 2 chargers require a dedicated 240V circuit, typically on a 50-amp breaker, run from your electrical panel to the charger location. If your panel is undersized or lacks available breaker slots, we will identify that during the quote visit and give you options.

    What the Installation Covers

We install all major brands including Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, Enel X JuiceBox, Grizzl-E, and universal J1772-compatible units.

    Permits and Compliance

The City of Houston requires an electrical permit for all EV charger installations. LCF Electrical applies for and manages this permit on your behalf. The permit specifies the EVSE type, and the installation must pass a city inspection before the job is considered complete.

All work meets the requirements of NEC Article 625, which governs electric vehicle charging systems. Key requirements include:

    • Dedicated branch circuit for the EVSE
    • Proper grounding and bonding
    • GFCI protection where required
    • Correct wire sizing for continuous load calculations (EV chargers are treated as continuous loads under the NEC, meaning the circuit must be sized at 125% of the charger's rated amperage)

All installations are performed by TDLR-licensed electricians under License #41252.

Federal Tax Credit: Act Before June 30, 2026

The 30C federal tax credit currently covers 30% of the cost of a home EV charger installation, up to $1,000. This credit is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2026. If you have been thinking about adding a home charger, now is a good time to move forward. Speak with your tax advisor about whether you qualify.

Do You Need a Panel Upgrade First?

Possibly. A Level 2 EV charger on a 50-amp circuit draws meaningful load. If your home is running a 100-amp service, or your current 200-amp panel is already near capacity, you may need a panel upgrade before the charger can be safely installed. We assess this during every quote visit.
