Lighting That Works for How You Actually Live
Bad lighting is something most people notice but do not get around to fixing. A kitchen that needs better task lighting. A living room that feels cave-like. A back patio that goes dark after sunset. Outdoor areas that feel unsafe at night. These are straightforward problems with straightforward solutions — and the right lighting installation changes how a room feels to be in, every single day.
LCF Electrical handles interior and exterior residential lighting installation across The Woodlands, Conroe, Spring, Tomball, Magnolia, Houston, Katy, Cypress, Humble, and the broader Houston area. From a single fixture swap to a full home lighting overhaul, we do the job cleanly and correctly.
LED vs. What You Have Now
If you still have incandescent or CFL fixtures in your home, replacing them with LED is straightforward and worth doing. LED fixtures use 75-80% less energy than incandescent bulbs, last significantly longer, and produce better quality light.
The color temperature of LEDs (measured in Kelvin) controls whether the light feels warm (2700K), neutral (3000-3500K), or cool and crisp (4000K+). We can advise on the right choice for each room.

Permits: When They Are Required
Replacing a fixture in kind — swapping a light fixture for another of the same type on an existing circuit — does not typically require a permit. However, the following work does require a permit from the Houston Permitting Center:
- Adding new lighting circuits from the panel
- Installing new recessed lighting where no wiring currently exists
- Any work that involves opening walls to run new wiring
- Pool and spa lighting installations (which also require additional electrical safety inspections)
LCF Electrical pulls permits for all work that requires them and manages the inspection process. All work meets the 2023 National Electrical Code requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you match existing recessed lights so the room looks consistent?
Yes. We will match trim style, size, and color temperature to your existing fixtures where possible.
I want recessed lighting but my ceiling has insulation above it. Is that a problem?
No. There are recessed fixtures specifically rated for direct insulation contact (IC-rated). We use the correct fixture type for your ceiling construction.
Can you add dimming to lights that are not currently on a dimmer?
Yes, as long as the fixtures are compatible with dimming (most LEDs are, but not all). We can replace the switch and confirm compatibility with your existing fixtures.
My outdoor lights keep tripping the breaker. What is wrong?
Several things could cause this: a failing GFCI on the circuit, moisture intrusion into a fixture or box, a wiring fault, or a circuit that is simply overloaded. We diagnose before recommending a repair.
Do you do landscape lighting?
Yes. We install low-voltage landscape lighting systems including transformers, pathway lights, uplights, and timer/photocell controls. Low-voltage landscape systems typically do not require a permit.
